A covid hobby turned into dream realized, RMK Barrel Works is the brainchild of husband and wife duo Mike and Rachel Kleshinski. Behind all the charcoal, sawdust and the rest of the dirty work you'll find Mike, a chef turned IT person turned WFH dog-dad. In 2005, at just 24 years old, Mike was diagnosed with terminal cancer. After 5 months of intensive round-the-clock chemo treatments, he was finally scheduled for a 17 hour surgery. After 9 hours under the knife, the medical team was able to remove the tumor, but Mike's journey was only just beginning. At the time he was diagnosed, Mike was 8 months into his schooling to become a chef. Cheffing turned out to be a short-lived career due to the long-term complications of Mike's cancer and other health related problems.
